East Lawrencetown Project: Drapery, Sheers, and Roman Shades in a Coastal Home | MIFU Decor

Project Background

This custom-built beach house in East Lawrencetown needed window coverings that feel natural, soft, and in harmony with its architectural details. The homeowners wanted fabric-based solutions that would bring texture and warmth while preserving the ocean views.

Design Approach & Fabric Selections

  • Sheer Curtains
Installed across large windows, sheer fabric filters sunlight gently, creating an airy, beach-inspired atmosphere while maintaining a connection to the outdoors.
  • Roman Shades
Tailored Roman shades were added for spaces needing more privacy and light control. Their clean folds give structure without overwhelming the interior design.
  • Custom Drapery
Full-length drapes in neutral tones add softness and warmth. They frame the windows beautifully, offering a layer of privacy in the evenings while complementing the home’s concrete floors and maple trims.

Benefits for the Home

  • Light & Privacy Control: Sheers keep rooms bright during the day, while Roman shades and drapes provide privacy and comfort as needed.
  • Natural Aesthetic: Fabric choices in muted, coastal tones highlight the home’s natural finishes without distracting from them.
  • Timeless Elegance: The combination of flowing drapery with structured Roman shades creates balance—soft yet refined.
