FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Planning Window Treatments for Your Home

From new-home planning to fabric selection, measurement and installation, here’s what to know about custom window coverings in Halifax, Bedford, Dartmouth and surrounding HRM communities.

When should I start planning window coverings for my new home?

You can start exploring options while your home is being built or before you move in. Early planning is especially helpful for motorized shades, curtain tracks and power connections. We can discuss your layout and preferences first, then confirm final measurements once the windows and relevant finishes are ready.

Can you coordinate window treatments for an entire home?

Yes. We plan custom blinds, shades, curtains and sheers around each room’s light, privacy and daily use. Your living room, bedrooms and kitchen can use different products while sharing a coordinated palette, materials and finishes. Our team manages product selection, measurement, order coordination and installation.

Can I start with floor plans, photos or my own measurements?

Yes. Floor plans, room photos and approximate window measurements are useful starting points for discussing products and preparing an initial estimate. Let us know your location, expected move-in date and which rooms you would like to include. Final dimensions and installation details must be confirmed before custom production.

How much do custom window coverings cost, and can you work within a whole-home budget?

Pricing depends on window sizes, fabrics, product styles, operating systems and installation requirements. Share your budget and priorities, and we can compare suitable options and allocate spending by room. A whole-home plan can combine different products and manual or motorized operation. We provide a project quote for approval before production.

Where is your showroom, and can I book an in-home consultation?

Our showroom is at 11 Bloom Ln, Unit 201, Bedford, Nova Scotia B4B 2E6. Visit us to compare fabrics, colours, textures and operating systems in person. You can also start with an in-home consultation in Halifax, Bedford, Dartmouth or surrounding HRM communities.

Tell us about your project and we’ll help arrange the next step.

Do you provide professional measurement and installation?

Yes. Our local team provides professional measurement and installation throughout Halifax and HRM. We check window dimensions, mounting space and operating requirements, then coordinate your order through installation.

Can you help me choose the right blinds, shades or curtains?

Yes. We help you compare roller, zebra, sheer, cellular and Roman shades, along with custom curtains and sheers. Recommendations consider your room’s style, sunlight, privacy, fabric preferences and daily use. We can also plan layered treatments when one product alone does not meet all your needs.

Can my window treatments be motorized, and do they need wiring?

Many shades and curtain tracks can be motorized. Depending on the product and window size, options may include rechargeable, battery-powered or wired systems. For a new build, it helps to discuss power locations before finishes are completed. We’ll confirm the suitable power source and controls for your selected system.

What are the best options for bedroom blackout and daytime privacy?

Blackout shades or lined curtains can help reduce bedroom light, while sheers and light-filtering shades soften daylight. Layering can provide flexibility between daytime light and nighttime coverage. Blackout fabric blocks light through the material, but light may still enter around the edges. We consider mounting position, overlap and coverage when recommending a solution. Daytime privacy also depends on the fabric and lighting conditions.

How long will my custom window covering project take?

Most custom orders are ready in approximately four to five weeks after selections, final measurements and the required deposit are confirmed. Timing varies by product, material availability and project scope. If you have a move-in date, share it early so we can discuss the schedule and coordinate installation once your order arrives.
