Maintenance and Care
Sheer Shades combine airy voile with structured fabric vanes, allowing smooth light control and privacy with a simple tilt. They diffuse daylight into a soft, inviting glow for living rooms and common spaces, while dimout fabrics provide more comfort and privacy for bedrooms.
Also known as: Silhouette sheer shades (Hunter Douglas), Shangri-La shades, horizontal sheer shades, banded sheer shades.
Key Benefits:
- Soft daylight diffusion: alternating sheer and opaque vanes create a glowing, even light.
- Privacy + openness: daytime privacy without a closed-in feel.
- Versatile style: blends the clean look of blinds with the softness of drapery.
- Smooth lift-and-tilt operation: adjust vanes to control light instantly.
- UV protection: filters harmful rays, helping protect floors and furnishings.
- Quiet performance: fabric-on-fabric movement reduces noise compared to shutters or hard blinds.
Mounting
- Inside mount (preferred): requires ≥ 75 mm (3") frame depth for full recess.
- “No-drill” installation available only for inside mount.
- Outside mount requires standard brackets.
Size Limits & Restrictions
- Max single blind width ~2300 mm (90 1/2"); wider openings typically use two blinds side-by-side (a slight gap may be visible).
- Composition: 100% polyester.
Common Q&A
- Do Sheer Shades provide blackout? No. They reduce light but always allow some leakage. Recommend blackout roller shades, drapery, or honeycomb for full darkness.
- Warranty? 2 years, free service.
- Durability? Fabrics are UV-resistant and hardware designed for daily use.
Shipping
- All our products are custom made. Please allow 3-5 weeks for delivery.
Routine Cleaning
- Weekly dusting: close vanes and dust gently with microfiber cloth or soft brush (horizontal direction).
- Monthly vacuum: vanes closed, brush attachment on low suction, support fabric with your hand.
- Spot clean: mild soap in lukewarm water, dab gently with white towel; blot and air dry. Avoid rubbing, bleach, or solvents.
Debris Removal (Without Taking Down)
- Lower fully, open vanes. Use a cool hair dryer to blow debris downwards while vacuuming near bottom rail.
Taking Down
- Lower shade fully, open vanes, release brackets, tilt headrail forward and lift out.
- Clean between layers using compressed air while supporting fabric.
- Reinstall by clipping headrail back into brackets. Do not rotate motor tubes by hand.
